Low Pressure Straight Fire Safe Ball Valve and Meter Control Valves

19 Apr

Ball valves are used as a safety feature in LPG gas installations. Ball valves are quarter turn and straight through valves. They are equipped with a spherical (ball) closure element that matches seats in the bore that are also rounded. The ball rotates to open or close the valve. The quarter turn rotates the ball by 900 to the flow of gas in the pipe, the valve is termed as open. When the bore becomes perpendicular to the flow path the valve is termed as being in the close position. They are reliable due to the bubble tight seating allowing for complete shutoff of the LPG. Ball valves are two way.

These valves are floating ball valve. They are attached at the stem that allows the ball to float slightly creating a solid pressing against the seat . They are effective for complete shutdown. Ball valves are designed to function as fire safe meter control valves and conform to the British Gas fire test for ball valves, and approved to British Gas specification.

They are available as 1″ x 3/4′ or 1″ low pressure straight fire safe ball valve. Meter control valves are also straight through. Valves are made of brass which is a copper-zinc alloy. It is non-sparking. LPG does not react with brass and is hence non corrosive.
